Hair growth depends on many factors, like what you eat, the season of the year, etc. so there are limits beyond which you can't go. For instance, you can't expect that your hair will grow 2 inches in a month only because you wash it everyday. On the contrary, when you wash it everyday, chances are that you will exhaust it pretty soon. It is true that if you wash your hair frequently, it will help hair growth faster but never forget that frequent washes also lead to hair loss.
You could also take vitamins or pills. take a balanced diet. take care of your hair properly, make sure its healthy %26amp; does not have any split ends or hairfall or dandruff etc becz they might slow down the growth of your hair. also improper haircare is not good for hair, here are a few tips for better haircare.
Aloe Vera gel. Leave it for an hour, then rinse with warm water. Repeat 3 times a week.
*Mix equal amount of warm castor and almond oil and massage over scalp once a week.
* Make a shampoo by mixing 100 g each of amla (Indian goose berry), reetha, and shikakai and boil in two liters of water until the liquid reduces to half. Use this shampoo for your hair for at least one month. Your hair will become thick.
*To control hairfall, Grind hibiscus leaves and apply on hair, allow it for 20-30 minutes and then take headbath. Do this weekly twice.
* Boil a few hibiscus flowers in coconut oil. Filter and use it. Combine coconut milk with lemon juice proportionately and apply to your hair. Leave it for half an hour and wash it. Wash your hair with mild shampoos. Prefer herbal shampoos or shikakai,amla etc.
Pour 2 to 2 1/2 oz of strained herbal tea into the 8 oz plastic bottle. Now, pour the 4 oz of castile soap into the 8 oz plastic bottle. Cap the bottle and shake to mix the ingredients.
The shampoo is now finished and ready for use. Use this as a base for all of the shampoos you make. You can add different herbs as you learn what these herbs do and how they help your hair. You can vary the ingredients according to your taste. But now you have a shampoo that has no additives that can harm you.
Note: MSM is called methylsulfonylmethane, an organic sulphur compound. You can get it in gel, liquid, powder, cream or capsule form. Consult your doctor before using MSM, especially if you are using medications.

if you need a name of a cheep shamppo my freind uses swave and it helps her hair out good , and she is also trying to grow hers long. so she has me trim it the ends only every 3 monthes to keep the split ends down to a minimon. but one good hint to making your hair grow fast is to massage your scalp trust me it works the thing that they say about the more u cut ur hair the faster it grows is untrue so i hope that helped and good luck

well cheap shampoo and conditioner is not the way to go... if you want your hair to stay healthy you have to go with more expensive hair products.. if you are buying shampoos and things at walmart target or any place like they are all watered-down... they are not the real thing and they don't work very well... but if you have to go cheap then just get Biolouge Matrix shampoo and conditioner from walmart or target... it doesn't work well but if you really need cheap then just get that... they have very many kinds for all kinds of hair.. i personally like the orange bottle because it smoothes your hair so that might be good for your coarse hair.

Should I get my hair cut short or long...how do i decide>??
My hair was halfway down my back long back in may and i got it all cut off at least four inches...well thats short for me and i really liked it short...Well right now my hair grows pretty fast so my hair is at that stage where all my layers have grown out and i either have to decide to let it get long again or get it cut short. and i can't decide i like it both ways just can't decide. I think when i cut my hair short it makes me look older which i love bc i start college this fall...i dont know i just want somethin fun but that looks older at the same time not to mention i work at a bank so i have to look good or professional too. Please help?? I am a grandma and I believe you look good the length it is. If you want a different look, try cutting it just a bit shorter. If you like that, then next time , cut a little more off. Don't worry, wearing shorter hair is not going to make you appear to have a big head.

its seriously up to you i would say no because i had really long hair and got a graduated bob and i hated it it was the most stupidest idea ever...you could cut it as it grows back and thats what i thought it just takes forever to grow back but if you really dont like it you could just get extensions

I like your hair the way you have it now. Your bangs were too long and messy and in your eyes before. I like the layers and the length in picture #2. Your hair is shiny and a beautiful color and most guys like long hair on girls. I would just volumize it with some product available at the hairdresser. As long as you have a few layers to do it, it will look fine. If you add some volume and width to it, your face will appear wider. I wouldn't cut it, I think you will regret it. You also have beautiful eyes and lips and great skin.

Good for you for making the choice to cut your hair short. You'll find it much lighter and easier to care for, and you'll get a lot of compliments. Long hair is beautiful but not very practical and not a style you can keep forever.
You can do just about any style with an oval face. If you still want a little length, you can do an inverted short bob, perhaps around ear length. But your best bet is probably to go with a short pixie that gives you some volume and texture on top and it short enough to completely free you from ponytails or hair falling in your face.

My gf got her haircut short a while back and she asked to have it cut above the collar and above the ear lobes on the sides with lots of layers. A very nice haircut. Not sure what you mean by very short, but this is a pretty short haircut, and this woiuld be a tranistional haircut if you are looking to go boys style cropped cut later.
i had long hair and then i got it cut the style that i went with is called inverted its really short in the back and gradually gets longer its about at about a little higher than my chin and everyone i know says it looks REALLY good so i think you should get it inverted also i think u also just ask your stylist what they think their the experts on hair and went to school for it they might have an idea
i did the same thing cut my hair from long to short but what i did was that i got like a Victoria beckham look (like a bob thing) or just cut it shoulder Lenght and then you barrel blow dry it with your hair coming towards your face, now that's how i have my hair now! Hope this helped!

Honestly I regretted having my hair Cut short , it brought about all kinds of problems , my hair was thick because it had been long and when it was cut short it became really hard to keep tame! My hair has also hardly grown since I had it cut , so now about 2 years later my hair has only grown like 2 inches. Believe me , when ur hair is longer its easier to maintain as it will be straighter etc due to its weight , don't get it cut and realize you've made a mistake like i did !

so try this...regular trims are a must, about every 7-9 weeks.(if your hair is really healthy then up the trims to about every 12 weeks, a trim is just a snip off the ends) if its been awhile since you have had a trim then inches may be called for to get to healthy hair. i use vitamin e on fresh washed hair.(its a vitamin that can be purchased where you buy vitamins, cut open capsule, squeeze into hand, rub hands together and apply to hair) dont message into scalp. if you get too much then just rewash it. hair will feel slightly sticky until dry then it will be nice and soft. it tames the frizzies, deep conditions and makes hair grow about three in a month. it takes about a month for the growth part of the e to kick in. the other benefits are instant. dont brush your hair but maybe once a week to message the scalp, i use a wide tooth comb at other times. brushing breaks off hair. i just started biotin vitamins going on four months ago this sat and notice and big growth spurt from that. biotin is cheap and also promotes hair regrowth and growth. i also have the biotin shampoo that i got from a vitamin store online.(puritans pride.com or vitadigest.com) five bucks for a big bottle and a big bottle of E is about 8 bucks. the biotin is about 3 bucks. i now take my fingers and message my scalp about five times a week, along with the brushing thats a good way to do it without damaging your hair. apply two or three capsules of e to dry hair and message into scalp and hair really well, put damp towel in microwave for 1 min to get hot, then quickly wrap head, a dry towel can be placed over that to help hold in the heat, leave on for 15 min, shampoo well, makes an excellent hot oil treatment. good luck, AND some people will argue about regular trims, your hair does grow from the roots, yes, but if your hair is not trimmed at the bottom, the it splits, get dry and brittle not to mention thin looking from no trims at all and frizzy. then your hair starts to break off at the bottom and giving you the appearance that it never grows. so to make hair grow as fast as possible and keep it healthy, then trims are an essential part of hair care. look on a ruler and check out less then half an inch and if your salon does not know what that is then take a ruler with you, i have. as of five weeks ago adding beta carotene vitamins to my regimen. i found out that along with the biotin it is very very good in promoting hair growth. they were five bucks for a bottle of 100. got them at walmart. the biotin and e can also be purchased at walmart, and adding all this up is pretty cheap to get great hair. i just wish the shampoo was available in the stores, but not yet.

It solely depends on the shape of your face, that determines whether you look better with short hair or long hair. I personally like girls with long hair, but that's not important, what's important is which one U THINK look better! :)

I have hair to my butt, and I like it. However, my hairdresser always tells me I should get it cut very short whenever I go in for a trim. The longest she's ever said I should go is a bob. She always seems to get the siccors out whenever I'm done telling her what I want, and one time she almost closed them down on my hair till I told her I didn't want it cut short, and she had them right above my ears. It's scary.

Next time you go to get it cut and she says you should go short, tell her yes. Let her cut it the way it will look best. You may end up with a boys style haircut, but it will compliment your face and look good on you once you and you will like it a lot once you get used to it. It will take some courage, but be brave and go for it.
Do not cut your hair unless it is your choice to cut your hair. You shouldn't do something that you don't want to do. Get a new hairdresser, the one you have is seeming quite scary. Don't let her cut your hair. Get it trimmed regularly, but by someone else.
Hairdressers are supposed to ADVISE you, not just do what they want with your hair. Make your wants and needs very clear to any hairdresser before you have them touch your hair.

Not everyone can pull it off because their hair ends up looking thin and stringy. She wants you to cut it so she will feel better about herself and her bad hair cut. My hair is 28 inches long at every week someone will ask me when I'm going to cut it. I'm not, I put years into this and it's healthy and thick so there is no point in me cutting it. I have nightmares that I have cut my hair! I always wake up relieved. If you ever do cut it, that's your choice, not hers.

I'm not sure...my hair is very thick and wavy, and takes so long to straighten, so it really annoys me long. I have had the same long hairstyle for about 7 years. I'm ready for a change. I'm not sure if I should keep my long hair and style / cut it differently or if I should go for a shorter look - something between my shoulders and my chin. I have a longer face with a big forehead. Currently my hair is down the middle of my back - but it just seems so unkept at times. I am not willing to go blonde/ red. Please look at my photo, and tell me what you think.

I forget the website, but if you do a search you can find it, where you can download your pix, and try different hairstyles on yourself, but speaking as a beautician of 30+ years...if you are going to change it up alittle, don't do anything drastic...it will literally throw you into shock!
I'd say, maybe right at your shoulders, with a few subtle layers, and a partial bang...would enhance your features the best...it also looks good long, but I'm sure everyone tells you that...I keep my hair long also, but every 2 years I bob it off, and donate it to wigs for kids. Little leaukemia patients, that can't afford wigs...it makes me feel good, and my hair doesn't just end up in the trash somewhere.

I do always make sure that my stylist leaves my hair long enough to put in a ponytail...because thats always the default do if you hate how your hair came out.

I want an honest, unbiased opinion. I don't care if you have long or short hair, I want an opinion about mine :)
So, yes, my hair is absolutely gorgeous. It's a little past my waist, and it's golden blonde. If you've ever seen Lost (TV show) and you know Claire's hair, it's very similar to hers but it has a looser wave. And I absolutely love my hair but here are some problems:
1-It's extremely hard to take care of. Brushing and longer showers, and such.
2-I'm ready for a change....something new!
3-I've heard long hair makes you seem taller and thinner. And I'm already tall and thin. Not that big of a problem, but I'll include it :)

It is true that long hair, especially if worn down and if it is straight, does slim the figure, since it is a vertical line flowing around the curves, rather than a mop on top of a lump. Wavy long hair though on a tall person is just gorgeous and rather enhances any figure.
If you do cut it short, you cannot get it back. Yahoo! Answers keeps getting questions from those who regretted the chop, and would dearly love their lovely old hair back. A few can do it, but most people take forever and it never gets back to how it was before because of the extra care that has to be taken while growing out.
If it is wavy, you will find too that it will bush out and grow sideways rather than down, and it will sit forever on your shoulders and never again frame your body. Only when it is as long as yours does the weight pull the curls out so they become soft waves rather than a Patti %26amp; Selma ball of frizz.
I would be sad to see it go. I would be even sadder if others take your lead and cut theirs off too. Something beautiful would be taken from us.
It's up to you of course, but once you cease to be a long haired person you take on a completely different, less natural and caring mindset, and a different set of friends who value fashion and forever changing, rather than valuing something that takes a long time to become beautiful.Should I cut my long hair short?

Pick up a hair magazine and look at some different styles. Sometimes they have specific styles for face shape, hair type ect.
If you don't want to get it all chopped off right away, you could always get a medium cut and if you don't like that then just grow it out again. If you do, get a shorter one next time.

I am a mother of 14-year-old boy with waist-lenght hair, his last haircut took place 6 years ago, his locks have never been buzzed. Getting that choppy cut would make it very thick, and somewhat hard to do. Plus, if you wanted to grow it out, you'd have to cut it all on length ( i.e shorter ) to have it all grown out evenly, or constantly cut your longer pieces to match up with the shorter layers as they grow.

If your hair is naturally straight it would work well. The only thing is if the layers in the cut aren't long then it makes your hair look thicker. Have a chat to you hairdresser and just see if they can do a similar cut that is slightly longer.
As much as I love my long hair, short is in and that cut is cute! A lot of celebrities are getting their hair cut short. My roommate just did and her hair looks fabulous. The only problem may be when you want to put it in a ponytail.

I got the Heyley Williams cut before. Once I came to school people loved it. I think you'd like it.

Product. Buy tons of styling product. You can't change the fact that your hair is short, but you can easily play with it until you at least have a little fun. Experiment with gels, creams and sprays! I had the same thing happen only WORSE. I went to get my butt-length hair trimmed and the stupid girl whacked of 10 inches! It was to my shoulders! I cried and cried. I wanted to sue the salon. I could have donated the ten inches to Lock for Love, for crying out loud. Instead, the stupid, stupid, stupid girl trimmed and trimmed until 10 inches were gone. She kept messing up. Rather than ask for help or tell me, she just kept going. I was really tired that day and falling asleep in the chair... but I even asked her if she was cutting off too much. OMG. She SO got fired!
Anyway, you just have to deal with what you've got. Might as well have some fun with it.

Think about getting it cut to about a half inch all round (Like my avatar here - dunno if it is this length, I got a four all over and now after about six weeks it's a good length), or a caesar cut. It looks good on most people regardless and then just let it grow back. An inch or two makes a big difference when your hair is short, so get a decent cut and then you can let it go dishevelled as it grows back.
Also facial hair can really change the shape of your face. Ask a girl, or find out what suits your face and hair type rather than thinking ';I'm a hippy or a goth or whatever...'; Facial hair that doesn't suit with long hair can with short hair.
A short, half inch all over haircut can suit any style, think about it, from rave to metal to hiphop.
Enjoy not taking handfulls of hair out of the sink and enjoy how health it is, literally squeaky clean,

I just started fixing it different ways each night and seen the reactions I got the next day from my family and co-workers and found what worked for me. Really don't let it bother you. Have some fun with it get some great styling products and curling irons or flat irons and get to it. You are still the same great person with less hair.
Get another hair cut that looks better (but don't cut much more off ... just trim).
And then wait for your hair to grow out again.
Short hair can be really cute if you rock your style with confidence. After you get used to the style you can get creative with it. You are so accustomed to having your long hair that you think you look different in a bad way. The only thing that may be diminishing you looks is your confidence.
I bet your hair could be really cute if you just let lose and did something interesting with it- It will grow back eventually- until then- you can have a punk rock star chick look, or something like that. Dye it another color. Just have fun and remember you still look good with out without hair!

I used to have very long hair and donated it to make wigs for kids with cancer. As it had been long all my life, I was not prepared to how much I identified myself with my hair length.
I didn't have regrets for my reasons, but I did NOT like the cut. Go to another hairstylist and see if they can change it for you. It took me a couple of weeks to adjust, but I am delighted with having short hair now. It's easier to maintain, I enjoy trying different hair products that I could not dream of using before and I like seeing people who have known me for a long time try to figure out who I am. The latter made me realize that others also related me to my hair length. I didn't know that others saw my hair and didn't notice me as a whole person. I now realize that my hair did not make the woman, it just acted more like a security blanket that kept me hidden from others.
You make the woman, not your hair.
I know it may feel unattractive now, but it could be because you are not used to it as well. Your hair didn't grow long overnight so it is normal that the new change may take some time to get used to as well.
Your hair will grow back. I would take this time to enjoy not having to worry about the maintenance and see what else you have to offer, If you look deep, you'll find your confidence again. I did.
Short hair that is cut well, looks very chic and you may try spoiling yourself with a few new clothes that accentuate the whole look. Also go get a make-up update. Many places offer this for free as a courtesy in hopes that you will buy their products. It feels good and a new look to go with your hair may be just what you need to help with your confidence.

OMG EXACT same thing happened to me last week! I went from below shoulders to jaw level (not intentional!) and my confidence was at rock bottom, so I booked in for a full head of hair extensions. This didnt work for me as my natural hair was so short, and now im thinking that even though the short hair was horrible, it was better than what I have now!!! You can either live with it (like I wish Id have done!) or get extensions, but nothing will make it grow any quicker! Hope this helps!

Why is your confidence gone with your hair? Surely, you have other assets? I bet the shorter hair really brings out your eyes or makes your killer smile more noticeable. Do something sassy with the short hair--tousle it, spike it, or maybe even highlight it. You are female, so believe me you got a lot more going for you than just your hair!!!
Search the internet for celebrities with the same haircut and try to copy some of the styles that you like.

Though it's really pricey you can get hair extentions, or you can go to a nice salon and have a hair stylist fix it; and don't try fixing it, I reccomend that you go to a salon because you'll just make it worse. Product. Buy tons of styling product. You can't change the fact that your hair is short, but you can easily play with it until you at least have a little fun. Experiment with gels, creams and sprays! My son wants me to cut his long hair very short. What does it mean?
I am a mother of 14-year-old boy with waist-lenght hair, his last haircut took place 6 years ago, his locks have never been buzzed. Today he wants me to give him a short cut with a vaery shiort shorn nape with guard #1. I think he would look good with it and with long hair - both hairstyles would be great on him. Yes! Most definatly! He's fourteen and sadly not a little boy anymore. He deserves to be able to play around with his look and express himself in different ways. It's great that he doesn't want to hide behind long hair anymore.
Waist length hair is very unusual (not bad) on a boy and you might want to make sure he's being teased of feeling pressure to fit in by changing it.
That's just a thought but chances are he just wants to break out of his childhood hair and get a more mature look. Let him experiment and see how it goes.
