Pick up a hair magazine and look at some different styles. Sometimes they have specific styles for face shape, hair type ect.
If you don't want to get it all chopped off right away, you could always get a medium cut and if you don't like that then just grow it out again. If you do, get a shorter one next time.
A style which is becoming really popular is the bob (and many variations of it). Find a celeb who has a face shape like yours and see what kind of hair they have.Should i get my long hair cut shorter for a change?

if you are looking for a change in your hair you dont necessarily have to get it cut you could style it a different way or you could get highlights or color it but if you absolutely mmust cut it here is a style i think you shoud try

If you like it about that length maybe you could have it shorter net time. Im just thinking that because my friends hair was so long and she suddenly decided she wanted a bob, and she hated it.

it depends on your face shape.
if you a have a rounder face shape short cuts wont suit you that much.
why not go into a salon for a consultation they will be able to advice you better.
consultations are free. a good hairdresser will suggest a style for you that should suit your face shape
just remember as much as people say ';hair grows back';, it doesn't grow back THAT quickly! it takes YEEEARS!
