If i join the navy, and im a women, how short will i have to cut my long hair?!its down to the middle of my back?

As long as you can put it up into a bun that keeps to regulation, you might be fine. However, most girls choose to have their hair cut during boot camp. It makes things easier, and adds to the bonding experience. If all the other girls are complaining about how their hair looks bad, and you're not, they might get a little jealous, and you definitely won't make friends that way. From what I hear, they just pull it back into a ponytail at the nape of your neck and just chop! I'm going to boot camp next month, and I already have my hair short (too short in fact...I have bangs, which aren't allowed, so I have to train them to pin back). Talk to the recruiters near you, or the people at MEPS. I saw a Navy woman who had her hair in a really thick bun, so she must have had pretty long hair.If i join the navy, and im a women, how short will i have to cut my long hair?!its down to the middle of my back?
You'll have your hair cut in a short collar length bob. If you want you can have it cut that way or shorter before you go. You can grow it back out after boot camp.

There are some pictures on this page.

You won't have to get it cut. They cut it for you. Just put on a Polo shirt and imagine your hair cut above the top collar. All females have it done. It's not by choice. You will all look the same at that time but after BMT I'm sure you can grow it out, but still have to keep it above that collar no loose ends.
To get the right length, put on a collared shirt. Your hair cannot fall below the bottom of the collar.

It's only for boot camp though, once you're done there you can grow it out and wear it up in a bun.
Ask a recruiter for the latest regulation that may dictate hair length. I'm retired from the Air Force (33 years) and my hair is past my rear-end. I wasn't forced to cut my hair. Many women just do it because they find it easier than to hassle with putting their hair up especially during boot camp when the instructors are yelling at you to hurry up. I just had to put my hair up to meet AF regs. I had to use a few pins to hold in the bulk (no more than 2 inches ';thick'), off the collar and arrange it in a way that did not interfere with my head cover (beret). I was a military cop. Hope this helps.
