This is another fallacy that has neither any scientific nor clinical basis. It is purely a psychological effect. Why is it that when hair is cut short it seems to grow faster than when hair is already long(no split ends)?
First of all, when your hair is short you can tell when it grows. When your hair is long, it still grows but it is less noticible.
The split ends problem? When your hair is short, it is less likely to get caught on things and is easier to brush. Also if your hair is short, you normally dont put it in a ponytail and ponytails cause split ends.
If you have long hair and dont want split ends, brush it only once a day and only brush your ends before you go to bed. Also when you brush start at the bottom and work your way up in sections. Also, when putting in a ponytail, make sure you hold the ponytail away from your ends when puling your hair through. Why is it that when hair is cut short it seems to grow faster than when hair is already long(no split ends)?
As I'm sure you know, it actually doesn't grow any faster. It appears to because of the relative length of your hair. As in, if your hair is a foot long, another 1/2 inch doesn't seem to make much of a difference. However, if your hair is 1/2 an inch long, another 1/2 inch will be double the length of your hair! In any case, I'm a long-haired brunette who bleaches her hair blonde. Trust me, those roots DO grow just as fast as with short hair. :) (I need to bleach my roots every 3 weeks to keep them from looking bad!) Hope this helps!
Add: Fastpitch hit the nail on the head...with shorter hair, you also have markers to go by (ears, shoulders, etc)!
Ya , but after several cuts there will not be a great elongation as after the first cuts
its just a bilogical phenomena
an enzyme type substance is in the tip of the hair , when it is cut down , it began to grow ; same phenomena is in some plants .........
did u noticed in new born babies that after first hair cut , the hair will grow faster than that before ..........
You can tell bc you have things to go by to tell your hair has grown when it is shorter such as you jawline, neck, and shoulders.
you prob have a lot of broken ends not split ends that dont let your hair grow
