When huskies start to shed, how long does it last? Can you shave or cut hair short to prevent so much sheddng?

Our husky started to blow his coat over a month ago, and he is still shedding it.

You're dog is going to shed all through the summer.

NEVER trim or cut a huskies coat. It messes the coat up.

It changes the texture of the undercoat, and doesn't keep the husky as warm in the winter, or as cool in the summerWhen huskies start to shed, how long does it last? Can you shave or cut hair short to prevent so much sheddng?
I'm assuming Huskies shed all year long but mostly in the summer time. No you cannot shave a husky your best solution is to invest in the Furminator it works great on dogs with a serious undercoat like Huskies. I have two friends with Huskies and they both use the Furminator, it gets up so much more hair than regular brushing, needless to say they do it while at the dog park because of how much hair they manage to get off of their dogs and it's a lot.

Furminator...a dogs best friend :-)When huskies start to shed, how long does it last? Can you shave or cut hair short to prevent so much sheddng?
Our husky would shed all summer (even with daily brushing) if we didn't shave him. He is an outside dog, and is extremely comfortable outside in below zero weather (actually sleeping in the snow 90% of the time, instead of his insulated dog house) with his winter coat after a spring shave, so I am not sure what the fact basis for that other post is.

We did not do a bald trim however, we left maybe 3/4 an inch on him.
Huskies shed all year.. they shed ALOT.. unless you are willing to live with those little tumbleweeds of hair and enjoy dog hair as a condiment, then dont live with a husky.

Shaving and cutting will not prevent shedding.. the dog will still shed, just shorter hairs. This will also ruin the coat, as it can make the top guard hairs grow in more coarse.

A good diet and daily grooming helps minimize shedding.
It lasts for about a month and a half, they have two shedding periods one in the spring and one in the fall (at least mine does).

I would not recommend shaving this breed of dog, although you can get it ';blown out'; at a groomer, where what they do is when your dogs start shedding you take your dog in and they basically get all there shedding hair out for you.
i would not shave your dog just because it i s shedding. when buying a long haired dog you should of known that he or she would shed. it is not fare to shave a dog if you can help it because there under coat is like a protective layer that

you would be exposing just let it shed
Dogs like huskies have two types of coats. The undercoat and the top coat. Shaving takes away the nice looking top coat leaving him with an unattractive undercoat. It it this undercoat that sheds so shaving wont solve very much. Only lots of brushing will help with that.
DONT SHAVE YOUR HUSKYY!!!! arghh didnt you educate yourself before adopting a husky!!! *twitching*

They shed almost all year long if you have like 4 season , IF NOT it's when temperature 's changing
As long as it takes for the undercoat to be gone. You can speed up the process by daily grooming with a shedding blade.
it lasts until the weather truly gets cold for me because they grow there winter coat, shaving it will not prevent shedding just shorten the hairs they shed. I LOVE HUSKIES keep teh hair longg
Don't cut the hair just groom it until you dont find hair on the comb anymore.
Frank Zappa says'; Don't you go where the Huskies go, don't you eat that yellow snow';
The start u shed around summer but , it should last at least a month or 2
