I've had long hair most of my life and I'm about to hit 30, should I cut it short?

I am asking this question because I get alot of comments from people who think I look like I'm 18 when I am almost 30. Wondering if the hair will make a difference.I've had long hair most of my life and I'm about to hit 30, should I cut it short?
Well you should just get it cut in layers, this way you get an idea of what you'd look like with shorter hair + Layers give you a fresh new look!I've had long hair most of my life and I'm about to hit 30, should I cut it short?
That's totally a matter of personal taste.

I think lots of women, including me, thought that they had to have short hair because they were too old for long hair when they turned 30. I went through the phase where I frosted my hair, so the gray roots wouldn't be so obvious... then lightened it for awhile.

Twenty-five years later, I am now again wearing my hair long and light chestnut brown (the original color of my youth), and covering up my gray roots.

Most of the time, I have it pinned up in a braided bun. But I like how easy it is to take care of this way.

I often say that I used to think I was too old for long hair. Now I feel like I'm too young for short hair. LOL. You're as young as you feel. Do what you want with your hair.
Only if you think you would like a change. Perhaps get a couple of inches chopped off and have layers put in, and add some highlights. It will light up your face, and you might feel better.

Don't do anything because society thinks a certain way. Have fun - hope you enjoy your makeover.
You should only get it cut because you want to. not because you want other people to think differently about you.
Why complain about the compliments I get the same thing and I love it!!!!!! Its nice to look younger than you really are keep it!
well do what u want...dnt let others influence u ta do somethin u dnt want ta do
I would start in stages. Get a little trimmed off, see how you like it, then go for more. Every woman should have the right to try something new in her life. I got a short -do at thirty three, had my fun with it and am now back to long hair at my husband's request. But I enjoyed it...you only live once.
if you get the right kind of style it will help you look the appropriate age but the wrong style could make ou look older then you are
sure
I think a change for the 3-0 milestone is in order! You don't have to do anything too drastic though. If you look young now, chances are you will look even younger with a new, shorter do. Go for it! You will look fantastic-er!
does it really matter??? only if u like it then cut it!!!

btw the cut u can ask me any time !!! im a hairstyler...so yea layering would help it but i think somewhere between the shoulder and ue armpits... are a good length rite now...

remember only cut ur har because u want to !!!ITS UR HAIR!!!

---harstyler---
ppls thing your yunger when your hair is long jest not to long then they think you have been growing it 4ever and think you old
I am also turning 30 in two months and have very long hair so I understand your apprehensiveness. I think that you should maybe change your hair maybe a nice healthy trim and a new style but nothing too drastic. You can change your look and do so much more with longer hair than shorter hair. Also, no worries or regret you have a party to enjoy!!
it depends on your face. if u have a long face, cut it short. if u have a rounder face, leave it alone. ask a hair specialist at the place u want to cut for a good look for u. good luck!
I understand wanting to look more your age, people think I'm 17 and I'm actually 26. I never get anything out of people saying ';enjoy it now, you'll appreciate it when you're older!'; because I honestly don't care about looking younger and see no point to 50 year olds wanting to look 20. But if you're just tired of having the same old hairstyle, cut it, try something new. Even if you're just really sick of people treating you like a high schooler, a change might be refreshing, but if this is the case, do something that isn't drastic, like keeping most of the length and adding layers or something. If you're really doing it for the sake of others, you won't be happy no matter how it looks.

If you do decide to cut it but feel that long hair is flattering on you, I would suggest getting it cut to just below your shoulders and get it layered.
Why would you want to look your age.....
If you would like to look older-then yes. Don't feel like most women do when they get older that they need to chop all of it off. It is a young look, but you could also try slowly taking a few inches off at a time and see if you like it.
what is wrong in looking younger ?i have a grandson. when we together people think he is my son. yes i look young for my age. %26amp; i love it.
Most women would die for such a complement - I don't see why you would want to look older - time enough for that when you do get older!@
who cares what people say, its what you like!
NO !
no please don't.
Well if you want a change go for it. I am 33 but I am still tolled I look much young. Whenever I have sale people ring me up they will always ask me if your parents are around. If I don't feel like talking to them I tell them No. If not doing anything important %26amp; I have time to waste I will tell them how old I am then they get embarrassed.
If you want to look old, then cut it. I can't stand it when as women get older, their hair gets shorter and shorter. If you have hair as long as Cher (down to your butt), you might consider cutting a few inches, but don't cut it short. You'll look old before your time and as you get older, you'll start to look butch.

Be glad you appear 18 when you are 29. Those days won't last forever.
Shoulder length Bob is what you are looking for
LOL! I have the same problem. I am 31, and just last week I got carded for a rated R movie.

I had hip-length hair all my life also, and I figured that was why people always thought I looked way younger than my age. I didn't care until I got a job where I had to be in authority over people . I got absolutely no respect, and coworkers said it was because I looked too young. So, I cut my hair.

I felt fabulous, like a weight was lifted off me! I went to work the next day, and nothing changed. I figure your age is really just an attitude. Your hair most likely has nothing to do with it. But I really am enjoying the change.

OH! and if you do decide to get it cut, PLEASE consider donating your hair to Locks of Love. They make wigs for kids with no hair.
thats like a compliment...take it as one. why should it really matter??? trust me,, you really shouldn't care about that
No just get bangs and trim u will look HOT
I am almost 60 and proud of my natural dark blond hair that is way past my waist. It also seems to please strangers who smile and make nice comments.Do you have a problem with not looking your age. Die it grey maybe? Just do what you feel is right. It is your hair after all.
It did for my sister. She looked like a teenager until she got her hair cut when she was 23. She finally looked like an adult.
i would do about to your sholders and layer it! dont cut it short though!
