Don't cut it! You'll regret it (I did, I'm still growing mine back out). Just change your hairstyle. Once it's cut, it's gone for a LONG time. And you're iffy about shoulder-length, so you really shouldn't do it.
Long hair is beautiful :-)How to not being scary cut to hair from long hair to short hair?
i agree with hairloss i gave my hair to locks of love and it was hard at first but i kept telling myself that i was doing it for a worthy cause and i felt great after doing it and i love my hair just get it styled after wards

Think positively. You could make your haircut a worthy cause. There are lots of children who suffers from hair loss that would love your hair for a hair replacement or a wig.
If you are looking for some inspiration or actual charities that will accept your hair - have a look at http://www.understandhairloss.org/hair-loss-in-children.html for some ideas.
Then your hair cut will benefit a good cause, and if you regret it, it will always grow out again, but in the meantime, you can think that you made someones life better, every time you look in the mirror.
Good luck :-)
You can really revive long hair by getting an inch or so trimmed off the ends. Also, the shampoo you use can make a big difference. I like Neutrogena T-Gel because it leaves my hair manageable and shiny, and fluffs it up for a little volume as well.
If you do go ahead with a haircut, I'd recommend that you do it in two steps. When a haircut releases the weight of long hair, sometimes it's unpredictable how the shorter hair will behave. So ask for a good haircut halfway to what you ultimately want. That will leave plenty of room to correct surprises.
layers, baby. lots. the edgey, styled look of short hair coupled with the elegance and femininity of long hair. i love layers cuz it looks like you spend forever in the morning getting it the way it looks and it's something you just wake up with. plus you can do more things with it. it's lighter whilst you ultimately keep the same length and you dont get split ends as frequently. proven fact.
dont worry my friend once had super long hair (like a little bit lower than her hips.) and she cut it really short like shoulder-length and she loved it!! But you know, maybe you should talk to ur hair stylist and talk about if shoulder-length hair is the kind of hair that fits you eyes, nose, smile, and face shape, and maybe even body shape.
Good Luck!!
don't cut it! i have personal experience since i had long hair for my whole life and i wanted a change so i cut my hair into a bob. i really hated it after that and cried. you will get overyour wanting short hair phase and you won't want to cut it. just don't cut it. you'll be thankful
Relax, it's just hair, it will grow back
I had mine long, then short, and it grew back
No big deal!
I used to dye mine all the time
Wasn't the right color?
No big deal, it will leave at some point
Maybe close your eyes?
It won't be gone forever
If you don't like it, it will grow back :)
i used to have really long hair. and i wanted it to be shorter because i was tired of the hassle with it. so, what i did was just take a few inches off at a time, so that it wasn't a huge change. i now have shoulder length hair and i love it (:
