What motivated you to cut your hair? For people who went from super long to super short?

For myself, I'm chopping about 2.5 feet of hair off tomorrow, it will go from mid-hip to mid-earlobe. I just felt the urge in the last few weeks to do away with the long tresses I've been cultivating for years. It occurs to me that I'm dealing with some major stress right now, and the last time I did a major hair chop was when I was 14 and my mom died. Maybe heavy stress causes me to ditch the locks? For other people who have made this kind of change, what made you do it?What motivated you to cut your hair? For people who went from super long to super short?
It was 1/2 rebellion and 1/2 the fact that it was too hot. I have very thick hair and my father never wanted me to cut it. He was very strict, so the first chance I got when I went down to Puerto Rico one summer to my grandparents house, I went out with my cousins and we played truth or dare and I did it. It went from my waist to my shoulder blade. Needless to say, everyone was pi$$ed but they got over it. I still keep it at that same length. And I kept it to donate it too. Good luck! What motivated you to cut your hair? For people who went from super long to super short?
Summer coming, and since long hair keeps the back of your neck warm in winter and keeps you hot in summer. At the back of your neck is your vagus nerve, which controls temperature and respiration. Even put up, your hair holds heat in from the top. Summer's the perfect time to start over.

I know heavy stress can be a factor. It can represent defiance, grief, a fresh start, a separation from the past, and other things. But sometimes it can just be logical.
Whenever I've had my hair cut, it's been on whim. However, there ARE advantages to having short hair: you do not have to spend as much time taking care of it, and you definitely stay cooler in the summer. Still, I prefer my hair long because I think it looks better that way. It's about halfway down my back now; I want to grow it all the way to my butt at least ONCE in my life. When I get tired of that, I'm probably going to get it cut to just below shoulder length. I just think all women should have really long hair at least once in their lives so they know how it feels...but of course, that's just my own opinion and people should be able to do whatever they want with their own hair.
I have somewhat curly hair. When its long, it ways down too much and the curls aren't bouncy. Also, if I tried to straighten it, the bottom half would always become wavy throughout the day. Now it is shoulder length, and cute straight or curly. Also, it looks healthier and dries much faster.
I got zits all over my for head and it got in my eyes even my tech teacher made me wear pony tails so it wouldnt get caught in the machines. My friend wh is a girl did the same thing and she looks TOTALY diffrent it was crazy! she was hot also
i was in 2nd grade when i went from hair down to the bottom of my butt to my jawline...

i cried for HOURS afterward and just wanted to crawl up in a hole %26amp; hide!

i did it because i was very yound and very stupid. i still wonder what the hell i was thinking
i have had long hair down to my but almost all my life. i just decided it was time for a change.. i got tired of fulling with it. i got mine cut to my neck. i love it.. never going long again...
Hmmm....depends what your hair looks like. My gf had beautiful long blonde hair and she chopped it off one day....she did it because she wanted 'something new' or a 'change'.....After seeing the short hair-she got something new alright. I gave her the booot...
My hair was really long and it just got in my face too much and my parents/friends always made annoying comments, so i got it cut shorter.
I actually chop off my hair every other year since 2001. I donate it to Locks of Love to make wigs for patients with cancer. Hair always grows back.
Many, many moons ago, when I needed to get a job.
Break up.
