I think you should cut it a little past your shoulders, so it won't be too short, but it also won't be too long and look lifeless. I cut my hair just above my shoulders a few months ago, and I think it's a big mistake, because it'll take a long time to get it grown to just past my shoulders. It's my advice not to cut it really short if you don't like the bob look.

Try a hairstyle like these, but maybe a half an inch shorter:

Good Luck!
If you cut it short and don't want it to look like a bob get lots and lots of chunky layers. Have them texturize it and put some light blond highlights in it. It will give it a textured tousled look. It will definitely not look like a bob. Also remember a bob is way of styling the hair. It's curling it under and making it all smooth. Make sure you don't do that use texture cream before you dry it. Use a flat iron to make it flip every which way and use a pomade to finish it with shine and give it a tousled look.
its hard to tell what will look good w/o pics but i would guess a little longer than shoulder length, like to your collar bone. it usually looks good w/ straight hair and doesnt look like a bob
Keep it medium %26amp; in layers, thats cute (; like a lot of layers.
